T.JAY got shot by an EMMY winning Director???

Calm down, calm down T.JAY is fine and alive...we're just talking about his video I Told Ya So! If you remember back this winter we watched an intriguing cut of T.Jay's tribute to Amy Winehouse called I Told Ya So. Well there is more too it. There was a lot of footage to decide upon so the Emmy winning director Bernard Oliver (@bernard_oliver) put together a Directors Cut which is actually quite stunning. Oh Yeah...Bernard Oliver is more than an Emmy winning Producer/Director. He is a winning journalist...photo journalist...Blogger...MMA Analyst... Entrepreneur...The list goes on and on and on...[reminds me of Delorean]. TNL: NYC 1

So I've made it. I had a successful time in Boston thus far and I'm now getting used to New York City. I came over with a mild case of bronchitis so I'm fixing that with plenty of rest and OJ but nonetheless I'm experiencing life. I've gotten lost, I've walked past sketchy bums, and I've walked across the Manhattan Bridge. All in all this is what success is about. Taking that nature and that spirit to win and making the most of it. As I would say taking Nothin' Less.

Daily Dose #13: 2011 I Took Nothin' Less

This couldn't be more perfect...I'm writing this while listening to Nas' "Memory Lane". You can't plan stuff like this. Anyway. In about 15 minutes I turn 24. Its been a magical journey this year. It started off with my 1st EP, The Quarterly Report. That project was so great to me because it was me finally getting to know myself as an artist. That branched off to several other avenues thereafter.

Soon after I dropped that project it started getting picked up by blogs and my fan base grew soooo much. I can't say anything about that attention that I was getting. Like I said before I was growing. I guess people recognized that.

In May of this year I got the surprise of a lifetime. I had just dropped out of school then days later, while sick, I got the email from MTV that said Sway picked my video "Breakfast & Biggie" to be shown for Ja Rule. I may have pissed myself...not really. I was very excited about that so that motivated me to make more moves.

I shot a few videos this past summer and started working on my "Debut" (not my first album) project #NothinLess. That dropped in October and has been my most celebrated project to date. So as I work on the next one and turn another year older I'd like to say thank you for taking #NothinLess this year and next year its going to be even bigger. Dope. -- T.JAY

Daily Dose #12 - Your Inner E-YO

I'm a week away from turning another year older and its been 3 days since I left my corporate job to pursue music full time. These are changes that most people would be afraid of. For a few hours one night I was. You see, I spoke to my friend E-Yo (fellow host of our radio show The Concrete Schoolyard) and everything he said to me was frightening. Definitely not on purpose tho. I was worrying about money...bills being paid...the whole 9 yards. Then I remembered where I came from. I'm like most black men from the hood. I came up in a broken home with one parent who did everything. But just 2-3 years ago I moved hours away from home with nothing but clothes, a tv, and a computer. Now I own a growing recording label, I've been on television, & I've worked for one of the largest corporations in the world. Beyond that I am an artist that is continuing to grow. E-Yo has always been a realist and a great friend. His advice scared me at first, but after it strengthened my motives. His words give me hope. When one is allowed to live out his dreams the achievement follows. He continues to tell me to push the envelope. So although it can seem as if he's being critical I take it as he wants me to be the best. So right now I'm going to be your E-Yo. Do you. Always. Dream Big...and take Nothin' Less.

Taking Nothin' Less: Daily Dose #9

Do you feel like this dude? I know I did yesterday. Out of nowhere I was freaking out. My co-workers freaked more when my head opened like that! The doctors would call it an anxiety attack but most would refer to it as stress. That will ~~MURK~~ kill you. These are a few tips I used to cope with freaking the hell out.

eat a bowl of cereal & watch cartoons getting your mind off the bull (toro?) will help you take a minute to breath. And instead of filling your body with ben & jerry's you can eat something sweet and healthier.

Have sex. Hopefully not with yourself but hey gotta do what you gotta do...no kid you shouldn't have sex without your parents permission which is most likely hell naw if you ask! Sorry.
Listen to music...Bach....Pac...Lox...whatever rhymes and makes you sing or grab yourself with a homemade mic just do it...

Hopefully that helped and if you just feel too overwhelmed see a doctor...~~you psycho~~. Til next time eat lots of cereal and have post marital sex. DOPE.

Taking Nothin' Less: Daily Dose #7

I have no idea what it is but my days always reflect the same lesson. I had a conversation with a co-worker and she asked me, "What if you don't make it...is that going to pay your bills...do you have a back up plan?" and I replied, "There is no if, this is the plan." With that said I sat down and I thought what if we didn't live fearing what we can and cannot accomplish. I believe that I will be in Cannes, France (the picture above) at the end of January performing. That makes me very sure that I will get the votes to help me do so. So point being...don't live in fear. It'll only hold you back.

Taking Nothin' Less: Daily Dose #2

"My complexities are formed by my inequities". Put plainly its okay to be different. One way to succeed in life is to set yourself apart from the majority. Sam Walton, founder of Wal-Mart, said "Swim upstream". Never be afraid to be different. It makes you unique. Since we take Nothin' Less that's another way to be great.
