Get "72701 Stories" on CD
My album is full of stories that relate to who you are...That normal person with everyday ambitions that just wants to cut through the crowd. If you love the album you can get a copy for yourself right above.
A few Music Videos I'm Diggin!
First off I like to say I'm loving where music is right now. People are kind of fed up with regurgitating music so it's getting more creative... It's good for culture! So no complaints here. With that here are a few music videos I've been feeling. They may even be reviewed later by @Serenalese.
Macklemore and crew have some fun with this very colorful video. I think it's very well done so check it out. Below is a new video from Ms. Somewhere in America. I don't buy in to a lot of stuff but the concept to this video is really creative.
Lastly this video from The Airplane Boys is pretty damn cool. My homie E-Yo put them on my radar some months back after he went to Coachella. They are pretty cool and this video is very introspective. So check it out. I just wanted to share these joints to you! While you're at it go through and watch my new video Yovng below. Til next time...Peace.

You Don't Need Major Radio...so Fuck em
Why do we spend all of our time on a dying media format? I can understand that the entire country is brainwashed to think that in order to be successful in 2013 you still need major radio play. That's not true! Before we knew "All Gold Everything" we saw the video first. Time and time again radio gets kicked in the nuts because they won't learn that we want variety.
Why 72701 Stories is coming Sooner than Later
With the things that i've faced in the last 12 months...I had to make a critical choice...Hold on to a record that is ready for you for 6 months or more...or give you what I've been working on for more than 9 months anyway.
I am choosing to give it to you because at some point I had to realize (this was soon after my last album release) that it doesn't matter anymore. In this technological age release dates do not matter...And unless you're Jay-Z and have a deal with Samsung you cannot always sell 1 million records without a single song out.
No amount of promotion, kissin' asses, or shaking hands is going to make someone choose to buy your album... the music is. And the music i have now is the same as the music I want to release 6 months from now. And who knows...I may not see tomorrow (lord willin' i do).
So I want to do something a little different...Give you the music now...and Promo after. Because my fan base is not big enough for an element of surprise type moment.
Below is my new joint "Workin" which you get when you Pre-Order the new album here.
Enjoy. be ready for 7-27-13 (see what i did there ... same area as the zipcode on the album!)
another Letter To My Fans: ignant [Side B]
sorry to keep you waiting,
over the last 9 years i've been working towards convincing people to see into my head. you see, unknowingly, i have been preparing you and myself for what's about to happen over the next several months. i don't want to say i can tell the future because then you'll be dismissive...but...i have a gift from God. that gift allows me to not only learn very quickly, but it allows me to acquire new talents. that gift led to the ability of foresight.
you see... everything happens for a reason. i've been taken advantage of, ignored, called gay, talked about, and the list goes on. for that i don't want a pity party. i just want people to see...there is a reason i'm here...there is a higher meaning. what people make fun of is what they don't understand. ignorance.
ignorance is the lack of knowledge. that lack of understanding leads people to believe that they are of lesser value. and because they devalue themselves...they choose to devalue other people. it's a curse.
my father, like myself, is highly intelligent and deeply misunderstood. but he allowed people to take him down. me on the other hand, i refuse. that's why i love my father. because he taught me without even saying a word.
the point is this. what you are seeing is an evolution in my approach. a warm embrace of the ignorance. a hug so to speak. you see because (as i say in my music) i am a star. the reason you don't know it is because you haven't seen the light yet. the light is coming on in two days. will you be ready to see it, or will your misunderstanding lead you to miss just how ignant it is?

p.s.: speaking of value, i value myself very highly. so i feel there is no room for me to give away anymore free music. i'm trying to get out of my mom's basement...not stay. i hope you understand. and if you don't just ask yourself..."does Apple give away their product for Free?" that's what i thought.
A Letter to my Fans: ignant [Side B]
sorry to interrupt your superbowl,
over the past few months i've been deep in thought...caught between believing in myself and losing every ounce of hope i have. when i found myself back home, after a failed attempt to plant myself elsewhere i became utterly depressed. i had a good situation but it didn't feel 100% right. the timing was somehow off. i needed to be groomed a little more. maybe punished.
so for the past 6 months i've been gathered in my mother's basement figuring out just how to climb back up the stairs. So Much More didn't work. not because it was bad but simply because it was an experiment. i was learning how to use new tools & mix them with old methods i once had. that album was how i felt in virginia hanging out with josh everhart.
after i put it out, i immediately felt like i had lost touch with my fans. i started begging my family to be of some support and at the same time neglected my core audience. for that im sorry. my audience isn't here with arkansas...(well some of it is)...its everywhere someone has a song of mine in their iPod, or that person that has watched me on YouTube....or my 16k followers on twitter.
so now im ready to start anew. im only a few days into producing the best material i have made to date. my rhymes have improved due to the hardships, depression, and anger. i'm ready to show you my [SIDE B]...the true me...the voice inside of Terry Lamont...(not those kind of voices)... im not ready to save the world with my lyrics...i'm ready to save myself. i cannot be polite anymore. it's time to get ignant

@TJAY501 has a goal of #SoMuchMore going Gold
3 Months ago I released my retail debut under On The Map Music Group. As I said in my article about conquering fear that we cannot be afraid to take risk. So this is my goal.
Before this year is over I have the goal of selling more than 500,000 copies of this album. That would give me the RIAA status of Gold.
Help me reach that!

How to Write a Rap (That People Remember)
There have been many times where I've been asked to give away my secrets. For instance how do I come up with my hooks, where do I record, how did I get verified on Twitter. The majority of the time I have no clear answer...I was born this way. Well I wish that was completely true. You see when I started writing rap songs, I began writing poetry, then hooks, bridges, singing melodies, and by the time I looked up I was writing about 10 songs per day. Many people don't know that but my best friend. Therefore that brings me to my topic. How to Write a Rap THAT PEOPLE REMEMBER. Listen to Too Many Chains first
Let's start from the top. There are 3 key components to writing an unforgettable rap. I'm going to lay them out for you.
- The Hook: other than a compelling instrumental itself there should be an unforgettable hook. In most songs...especially singles...you want it go FIRST. When writing a hook one has to always remember where will this rap be played; in the club, in the car, in an orgy...you get it. When you begin the hook you want the first line to punch people in the gut. Some combination of either reaffirming domination "I'm a young black menace to society" or reminding people to have fun "Girl you look good when you..." what ever it is it needs to be a BOLD statement. Be sure to always follow the rhythm of the beat and write 4 bars that fit the melody. If you chose to extend it you can write a repetitive bridge. "I got too many whips and chains on...uh huh...too many whips and chains on". Next is...
- The Verse: Now the majority is based on your ability to have charisma, wordplay, and energy...none of those I can teach. But what I can teach you are some tricks I enlist. I always begin the verse with ANOTHER BOLD statement. For example in my song Too Many Chains I say, "I'm a Young black mogul on the come up". This almost matches the hook yet sets a totally different statement. That's what you want to achieve. Then in the middle of the verse I call this the 9th Bar Effect you insert yet another bold statement to remind the listener that this is not a game! Mine was "When the last time Jordan came and put you out of your misery?". Not only sending a clear message but causing the listener to ask themselves a question. Engagement is key.
- The Vamp/Bridge: There needs to be a spot where you give the listener a mental break (if you are making a party song...you want it to be one big mental break). This is usually called a bridge. Here you insert hook like repetition but utilize negative space (where you aren't speaking) to do the work for you. My bridge in Too Many Chains is: "There's old school, there's new school, but this here is new cool...so swag That!". This statement just says...I'm not doing what everyone else is doing so just go with it.
If you follow all three of these recommendations you will find yourself writing better than average raps in no time. This is a method I came up on my own and yours will be different. Challenge yourself to new song structure and not saying what other people are saying...Only then will your song be original and be a rap song that people remember.
Look at these Outtakes from the #TooManyChains Video shot by @Bernard_Oliver
They should not let us have cameras...because we are bound to act stupid! This is footage from what was left over when Emmy winning Bernard Oliver shot my Too Many Chains video.... Watch accordingly and subscribe to ON THE MAP TV to see when it drops!
LET'S BE HONEST: #CrowdGoesWild by @TJay501 doesn't mean what you think...
Let's Be HONEST: In this portion of my blog I want to talk to you about the real meaning behind certain topics...whether it be pop culture that people just get wrong, what men really think or simple mistakes in human thought processes. so Let's be honest...
A couple months ago I released an album called So Much More. From that album my first video is a chill chill song called "Crowd Goes Wild". Apparently some got the misunderstanding that 1. this was meant to be a WILD party in the video. 2. I don't have enough BLACK women in the video... you can see where shit gets crazy huh?
So here's the truth: The song is about me fighting peer pressure...so when the Crowd Goes Wild...I ignore it. The video was supposed to be a portrayal of me being faced with my vices...Weed and Liquor...and boom...I was faced with both that day.
And the black woman thing...I invited to the sum of 100+ people...with several Black women in that mix...to the shoot. Who you see in the video...plus or minus 5 bodies...were there. You see my dilemma now? The video worked out just how it was supposed to...Not because it didn't turn out right...just because I planned it so the ones who go along with the CROWD never showed up in the first place... Now that you know...watch the video for yourself.
